Agh, I wake up feeling tired, and throughout the day, I feel like a sluggish zombie. All I want to do is munch on processed snacks. If this sounds like you, acid has a hold on your body.
Dr. Daryl, your health P.I.
I got into medicine because I wanted to be a P.I. Yep, a personal investigator of my patient’s health and wellbeing. What makes some people feel energized at age 92 while others feel groggy at 29? I had to know, so I could be part of making the world a better, healthier, and happier place for all!
Like any good investigator, I followed the evidence and the evidence led me to ACID. Joint and muscle pains = too much acid. Acid reflux and bad digestive systems = too much acid. Obesity or even someone who just wants to lose eight pounds = too much acid.
Why must I kick acid out?
Acid can burn a hole through metal. Yikes, I could stop right there. If it can do that to metal, think about what that’s doing inside YOUR body. Do you really want that destroying your digestive and cardiovascular systems, joints and muscles, and overall health?
Acid is a sneaking little terror, you don’t see “acid” written on packing or labels, but the Standard American Diet (S.A.D. Diet) is OOZING with damaging ACIDS. Sugar, gluten, processed foods, coffee, dairy, meat, carbonated water, artificial sweeteners, soda, etc., are all burning holes in our bones and throughout your body.
S.A.D., Stressed & Exhausted
The accumulation of toxins and acids combined with STRESS creates massive amounts of inflammation in your body and joints. To keep going, your body is RUNNING ON FUMES to stay afloat and deal with the damaging effects the inflammation is causing. This makes waking up every morning with the energy we need to tackle our day almost impossible.
Most Americans combat this lack of energy with caffeine, coffee, sugar, and energy drinks—and it doesn’t work. They are tired all day and are so wired by the end of the day from all the acidic stimulants they can't sleep at night. It is a vicious cycle.
If all of this sounds too familiar to you or someone you know and care about, then chances are your body is acidic, robbing you of your health and vitality every day. But you don't have to settle for the S.A.D. life. There are natural and realistic changes you can make right now to get on the path of naturally feeling energized and wonderful.
Go from an acid-holic to alkaline and feeling fine!
You can make changes now to help slow down, stop, and reverse the damage done to your health by an acidic lifestyle.
Anything REAL is never an overnight quick fix. However, including these 7 steps in your day, you will notice a big difference in how you feel—inside and out.
Lastly—and this is super important—always remind yourself it’s not about trying to be perfect or cutting out EVERYTHING you enjoy for the rest of your life! It’s not about deprivation. It’s about adding the small things that make the biggest difference—and doing them daily.
7 small things that make a big difference
Breathe. Yep, we are starting out with what makes you literally feel and be alive! Not only will you get more energy, but you will also get rid of the most damaging acid in your body, carbon dioxide which is 120 times more acidic than every other acid in your body COMBINED, including the acid in your stomach!
ACTION: Do deep breathing exercises 3 times a day.
Hydrate. Coffee doesn’t count! Most people are extremely dehydrated without even noticing it. Once they start hydrating they are shocked by how much better they feel!
ACTION: Drink an 8-ounce glass of water every morning with either 2 tsp of raw apple cider vinegar or the juice of half an organic lemon. Then, hydrate even more by drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. If you weigh 150 lbs, then drink 75 oz of water daily.
Get your greens and minerals. By giving your body the alkaline nutrients you’ve been missing, your body will start to heal itself and you will reclaim your energy.
Avoid or minimize harmful acids. These include caffeine, sugar, gluten, dairy, alcohol, soda, processed food, artificial sweeteners, and carbonated water.
Enjoy smoothies. Having a fresh, organic, green smoothie daily is an awesome way to pack nutrient-dense alkaline superfoods into your body. Always go with a green like spinach or kale as your foundation, a small amount of fruit (banana or berries), and some healthy fats to neutralize any sugars in the fruit like coconut oil, raw almond butter, or chia seeds. My favorite liquids are coconut water, coconut milk, and almond milk.
Get moving. Sweating will help your body release the toxins and acids that have built up over time, even exercise as simple as a brisk walk.
ACTION: Exercise for just 20 minutes a day…but go longer if you can!
Go 80/20. Enough with the impossible “quick fixes and yo-yo diets.” Alkamind is all about sustainability—a lifelong healthy lifestyle. “Good enough” is what we are aiming for because we are humans, not robots. a. In other words, try to eat 80% alkaline foods and 20% acidic foods.
