Guilt-Free Mrs. Prindables

If you love those decadent Mrs. Prindables apples but don’t love the sugar crash (or the price tag!), you’re going to fall in love with this healthier version.

These chocolate “caramel” apples use dates for natural sweetness, green apples for a lower-sugar base, and Enjoy Life chocolate chips melted with coconut oil to create that glossy, candy-coating feel—without dairy, additives, or refined sugar.

My kids actually helped make these, and we were all shocked at how amazing they turned out. Sweet, chewy, chocolatey, crunchy—everything you want in a caramel apple, just…better for you.

Why These Are So Much Healthier Than Mrs. Prindables

Let’s break it down:

✔ Natural “Caramel” Made From Dates

Instead of a layer of caramel made from corn syrup, heavy cream, and loads of sugar, these apples use whole dates.

  • High in fiber
  • Naturally sweet
  • No refined sugar
  • Rich in minerals like potassium and magnesium

✔ Green Apples = Lower Sugar + Delicious Tartness

Green apples cut down the sweetness and bring a bright, crisp bite that balances the dates and chocolate perfectly.

✔ Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips

A cleaner chocolate option—free of dairy, soy, and unnecessary additives.

Melted with coconut oil, they create that beautiful, smooth chocolate shell we all love without the junk.

✔ No Heavy Cream, Butter, or Corn Syrup

Just simple, whole ingredients that leave you feeling good instead of weighed down.

✔ Kid-Friendly and Mom-Approved

My kids devoured them. Enough said.

Ingredients

  • 2 green apples
  • 12–15 whole dates (Medjool or Deglet Noor - REMOVE THE PIT!
  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1–2 teaspoons coconut oil
  • Parchment paper

Directions

1. Prepare the Dates.
Slice each date open lengthwise. Remove the pit.
Lay the opened dates flat on a sheet of parchment, cut side up.

2. Flatten the Dates.
Cover the dates with another piece of parchment.
Use a rolling pin to roll them into a thin, flexible sheet.
Peel off the top parchment carefully.

3. Prepare the Apples
Wash and dry the green apples.
Leave whole or slice into thick rounds/wedges.

4. Wrap with Date Sheet
Lift pieces of the flattened date sheet and press onto the apple surface.
Cover as much as you like.

5. Melt the Chocolate (Stovetop)
Place a small heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method).
Add chocolate and coconut oil to the bowl.
Stir gently until smooth and glossy.
Remove from heat—do not overheat; chocolate can seize if too hot.

6. Coat the Apples

Drizzle or dip the date-covered apples in the melted chocolate.
Place on parchment paper and chill 10–20 minutes until the chocolate sets.

7. Serve & Enjoy
Chewy dates, tart apple, and smooth chocolate—a perfect combination.

In the end, these healthier chocolate caramel apples prove that you don’t need refined sugar, heavy caramel, or processed toppings to make something truly decadent. With just a handful of clean ingredients—dates, apples, coconut oil, and allergy-friendly Enjoy Life chocolate—you get a treat that feels indulgent but fuels your body instead of draining it.
