Let’s Get To The Heart Of Women’s Health

National Women's Health Week (#NWHW) kicks off on May 8th. If you are a mom to fur babies, children of all ages, or a momma to the world—celebrate yourself this Sunday—Mother's Day. Let the party continue throughout the week and beyond by stepping into your power—your health—with all your heart!

This year, we are leading with our hearts, and I mean that quite literally. HEART DISEASE is the LEADING cause of death for women in America. The CDC reports that about 1 in 5 female deaths is due to heart disease, including coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, and heart attacks. Women are almost more likely to die following a heart attack than men.

These stats are absolutely heartbreaking. However, there is great hope! Heart disease is TOTALLY PREVENTABLE with the Alkamind lifestyle! Obesity, Type 2 Diabetes, The SAD Diet, and not exercising nor taking the right supplements are all pathways to heart disease.

If you are reading this blog, it means you put a lot of heart into your health, so I am here to pump it up with the best nutrients! I love sharing health hacks with people that want to feel healthy! So let’s Vitamin K-iss heart disease goodbye!

Vitamin K = a kick acid heart! (OR Vitamin K = Kicking heart disease to the curb)

Vitamin K is essential for heart health, but it is sadly missing in most multivitamins. Do not fear; you can buy it here. Vitamin K2 is your body’s traffic controller as it tells calcium where to go in your body.

Calcium is vital for a strong heart and bones, reducing your risk of heart disease and osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is another critical women’s health issue because nearly 25% of postmenopausal American women are currently suffering from preventable osteopenia or osteoporosis.

But you don’t want calcium going to all parts of your body, another reason why taking traffic controller Vitamin K is a must. Calcium can build up in the arteries and lead to heart disease. It can also build up in your joints, causing arthritis.

I also recently read a study that found women with the highest intake of K2 were 57% less likely to die of heart disease over the next ten years. Take your Vitamin K - Okay!

Vitamin D3+K2 = BFFs

Vitamin K2 is effective, but when paired with D3, it is a powerhouse of heart health! In the Acid Kicking Vitamin D3+K2 version that my wife and I take daily, it is mixed with:

  • Plant-Based Vitamin D3: You must have Vitamin D in your body to absorb calcium, and Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones, teeth, and muscles.
  • Organic Oil: A Keto fat that lowers triglycerides, regulates healthy blood pressure, and increases bioavailability, absorption, and assimilation of the D3 + K2.
  • Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil: By adding this powerful antioxidant, you will drive the D3 into your cells faster while fighting inflammation and lowering cholesterol (directly linked to heart disease) at the same time.
  • Vitamin E: This serves double duty, both boosting vitamin E intake, which is a powerful antioxidant known for benefiting the skin and joints, and maintaining the freshness and potency of the supplement without chemicals or additives.

Now that your heart is overflowing with health and knowledge, continue celebrating National Women’s Health Week in the most womanly way—invite your girlfriends over for lunch or dinner! This 30-Minute Apple Cinnamon Chia Pudding dessert is easy to make and bursting with flavor and heart health!
