You Can’t Find Grass-Fed Eggs at the Grocery Store

There is a 0% chance of finding a grass-fed egg in a grocery store. ZERO, Zilch, Nada.

I’m serious. “Vegetarian,” “pasture-raised,” or “organic” does NOT mean your chicken ate GRASS.

Let’s crack the shells on what these labels actually mean…

Vegetarian.

It means they were fed with CORN and SOY, both of which are MEGA-inflammatory Omega 6 fatty acids.

Most people associate “Vegetarian” with being nutritious or even organic, but really, it means two things that are HORRIBLE for your gut and mood.

Tricky, tricky, I know.

Corn and soy are two of the most genetically modified (GMO) foods on the planet. They contribute to genetic changes in the brain, including the production of oxytocin (the love/happiness hormone). This is because soybeans and seed oils profoundly affect your brain's hypothalamus, disrupting over 100 genes, including body weight, mood, and hormone regulators.

It’s no wonder that anxiety, depression, and Alzheimer’s rates are at an all-time high.

Pasture-Raised

Pasture-raised means the chickens must have 108 square feet of outdoor space to roam freely around. Chickens freely roaming should be the standard, but tragically, some chickens live in damp, dark, chemical-flooded barns their entire lives.

Honestly, learning about the standards of living for many chickens is like watching a horror movie, but instead of just watching it–you are eating it.

Therefore, pasture-raised is better, but it does not mean they are eating GRASS or anything nutritious.

Organic.

Chickens that lay “organic eggs” still eat mostly CORN, SOY, WHEAT, BARLEY, OATS, ETC. They may be “organic,” but they are still some of the most inflammatory feeds around.

Therefore, you are putting corn, soy, wheat, oats, etc., into your body.

Here’s another shocker: “organic” only means chickens are “free-range,” one of the most deceptive terms in egg marketing. The only rule of free range is that chickens must have “some outdoor time in a day.” However, since there’s no uniform standard, that outdoor time could be 5 minutes on concrete.

This is NOT a knock on organic foods. I still 100% recommend you eat organic; I am just dropping the yoke on what organic means in this situation.

Egg-cellent Solutions

Ok, I had to give my last egg pun!

My solution: Only buy eggs from your local farmer or raise them yourself!

Our neighbor and egg supplier, Wendi Aston, raises chickens, which eat organic leftovers from their kitchen.

“A healthy egg starts with healthy feed and food, allowing them to eat bugs in nature for protein. Allowing them free air all day to be in the sun, in nature, and to eat grasses and bugs is ideal for strong shells and yolks. Occasionally, they get herbs, egg shells, grubs, grass clippings as treats to keep their immune system strong.”

Wendi is a hormone, fertility coach and hypnotherapist who digs deep to find the real issues, which often starts with what the animals eat that produce the food her clients then eat. Her education was one of the reasons she started raising her chickens so that she could know exactly what was going into the eggs that her family—and now her friends—eat.

Wendi is a certified Health Coach specializing in hormone balance, fertility, and overall wellness. As a skilled Hypnotherapist, Sound and Energy Healer, and Hypnobirthing educator, she supports women through every stage of their journey — from conception to postpartum. Wendi is also an Environmental Toxin Expert with a background in LEED-certified renovations in LA and NY, helping clients create healthier, low-toxin homes that support optimal well-being.

Whether you're looking to improve fertility, balance your hormones, manage stress, heal from trauma, or prepare for a blissful birth, Wendi brings a compassionate, science-backed, and holistic approach to healing. She even offers natural methods for couples hoping to sway their baby’s gender, based on the research in her book.
