In the next few years, you’re going to hear a lot about our topic today.
This growing trend is actually based on just about the tiniest thing possible that’s more prevalent in our universe than anything else.
And yet, it’s extremely powerful as an antioxidant with the ability to reverse cell damage from the inside out.
What is this master antioxidant that is so tiny yet so powerful?
It’s called Molecular Hydrogen, and in addition to being an inert gas, it’s also one of my favorite supplements.
This ingredient, when dissolved in your water, can transform typical water into an antioxidant powerhouse.
Why are antioxidants so important?
They fight free radicals, which are aggressive oxygen compounds in the body that not only attack surrounding tissues, but also play a significant role in the development of chronic diseases such as heart disease, autoimmune disease, and cancer.
Now, not all free radicals are bad to your body. But there is one that you need to know about that IS very harmful to you and your health, called the Hydroxyl Free Radical, also known as OH (and oxygen and hydrogen molecule).
Hydroxyl free radicals can cause damage to parts of cells such as proteins, DNA, and cell membranes by stealing their electrons through a process called oxidation. (This is why free radical damage is also called “oxidative damage” – similar to how a banana or an apple will brown).
In fact, these inflammatory free radicals are responsible for premature aging, and even chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and brain disorders such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that free radicals cause your body to rust from the inside out and accelerate the aging process.
So anything that can bind to these free radicals in order to stop them from doing the damage they inflict is really powerful.
That’s what antioxidants do, and as a result, you can slow down the aging process and avoid the chronic inflammatory diseases mentioned above.
You have heard of many antioxidants before, and quite possible might be taking one, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Glutathione, Astaxanthin, or Selenium.
While I am a fan of all these, Molecular Hydrogen supersedes every one, turning your water into an antioxidant machine.
What is molecular hydrogen?
Let’s go back to Chemistry class just for a moment to explain what this powerful tool is (so just bear with me for a moment as this is important for you to know).
Hydrogen is the first element on the Periodic Table, which means it’s the smallest and fastest, and it’s extremely reactive to other hydrogen atoms, meaning two will bond together immediately.
That makes H2, or molecular hydrogen. It’s a tasteless, odorless, inert gas.
H2 hydrogen gas is the smallest molecule in the universe, about half the size of oxygen, which gives it a higher cellular bioavailability than any other supplement, or drug.
In other words, it can get to anywhere in the body within 30 seconds.
It can infiltrate parts of the cell that nothing else can. It not only penetrates the cellular nucleus and mitochondria, but also it crosses the blood-brain barrier. We’ll get back to why that’s so important in a minute.
There are more than 700 scientific studies and publications on the therapeutic benefits of molecular hydrogen, including more than 40 human studies in more than 170 different human disease models.
We’re still in the early days of research on this important health tool and there’s much to find out. However, peer-reviewed research confirms the benefits of molecular hydrogen for a myriad of health-related uses.
There are all sorts of benefits of molecular hydrogen, including:
- Prevents acid reflux because it reduces inflammation in the gut microbiome, and increases the production of the anaerobic microflora
- Taken with Omega-3 supplements, it negates the effects of oxidation, which is common with lower quality brands
- Helps prevent kidney stones
- Decreases allergic reactions
- Potential disease-reversing benefits for patients with diabetes, pre-diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome
But I want to focus on the 3 most important benefits, explained by my friend, colleague, and foremost authority on molecular hydrogen, Paul Barattiero, C.Ped., founder and CEO of Synergy Science and Echo Molecular Hydrogen Water.
Fights Dangerous Free Radicals
When you cut into an apple and it begins to brown, oxygen is oxidizing the apple.
Free radicals cause a similar process inside your body that speeds up the aging process and damages cells. So, when there are too many free radicals, you age faster than your true chronological age because you are in a sense, rusting from the inside out.
As I mentioned earlier, the most dangerous free radical is the hydroxyl free radical.
It wreaks havoc on your mitochondria, the energy powerhouse of your cells. The reason molecular hydrogen is a strategic antioxidant is that ONE H2 molecule can convert TWO hydroxyl radicals in your cells into TWO harmless water molecules (OH + OH + H2 = H20 + H20).
Everybody has inflammation in their bodies. It is the cause of ALL disease!
In the short run, inflammation can be part of the healing process, but when it becomes chronic, inflammation is detrimental to your health.
The body is designed to develop hydrogen on its own, and it does so in the gut. In fact, your body has the ability to produce 10 liters of hydrogen every day in the gut as a byproduct of healthy digestion.
But an acidic diet will wreak havoc on the microflora of the digestive tract. And if the digestive process is not working correctly, and you don’t have the appropriate bacteria strains, oxidative stress creates inflammation.
This is why using water with molecular hydrogen is so important—it addresses one of the true causes of inflammation, which is reducing oxidative stress.
Molecular hydrogen can stimulate anaerobic microflora, which can quickly re- establish the good bacteria and gut health. This is beneficial for inflammatory bowel disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, Celiac’s disease, and diverticulitis.
Increases Brain Function
Hydrogen is the first element on the periodic table, which means it is very small. Being a tiny element, it can go anywhere in the body it is needed. It is so small it can even traverse the blood-brain barrier, where it has a very powerful effect on brain and cognitive function.
When drinking water with dissolved molecular hydrogen, two hormones are stimulated. Ghrelin is the hunger hormone the stomach produces that triggers eating. Leptin is the hormone that tells you you’re satiated.
They work together, and when they are stimulated, they affect the hippocampus, hypothalamus, and brainstem for increased cognitive function.
That not only means better brain function overall, but also reduced risk of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
So how can you enjoy the benefits of molecular hydrogen?
By now, you can see the power of adding molecular hydrogen combined with mineral-rich alkaline water. Paul Baratierro and Synergy Science created the only system that produces alkaline pH water with hydrogen in one machine.
The Echo® Molecular Hydrogen machine is the only one that does not require the constant cleaning other hydrogen machines do. It also has:
- Robust filtration that removes chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, chromium 6, and volatile organic compounds, without removing minerals.
- 4 levels of alkaline pH water, and 4 levels of acid pH water with hypochlorous acid for disinfection and skin conditions.
- Patented system that ensures molecular hydrogen is always dissolved in the water.
Now, if these units are beyond your budget, there are also molecular hydrogen tablets and drops that you can add to your water, giving you 1.5 ppm of molecular hydrogen.
You can learn more about molecular hydrogen (an entire chapter on the subject co-written with Paul Barattiero) in my new book, Get Off Your Acid: 7 Steps in 7 Days to Lose Weight, Fight Inflammation, and Reclaim Your Health and Energy. It’s also full of recipes, tips, and ideas to take you from sluggish and in pain to healthy, energetic, and slim.
